about

Hej vil du med så kom, så går vi ridding om / Skal vi gå til fremmede lande for en liden tøs at få

A set of two tunes from Sønderho, a small town on one of our favourite islands, Fanø. We learned the melodies from fiddler Peter Uhrbrand, who carries the tradition on from Frits Brinch (1912-1993). Frits played music from Sønderho, which had been passed down through six generations of musicians by ear, so there's an unbroken line up till this day. Sønderho music and the traditions around it are completely unique in Denmark. The music dates back hundreds of years, and is still used for parties on the island. This modern arrangement was founded in a fun jam session on another Danish favorite island, Læsø, after a concert in the beautiful Byrum Church, actually!
